About

Bodhidharma’s Eyes is the creation of David Luekens, a Thailand based writer-photographer focusing on travel, culture, spiritual traditions (especially Buddhism), food and drink, and generally seeking, capturing and sharing common yet evocative moments of life.

Luekens’ writing and/or photography have appeared in Seven Days Newspaper and on www.bootsnall.com and he is a regular contributor to www.travelfish.org. He is also author of the book, every drop.

An ancient legend tells of how Buddhist patriarch, Bodhidharma, cut off his own eyelids to keep from falling asleep during his constant meditation. The world’s first tea plants sprouted at the very spot where his eyelids fell, and Bodhidharma’s eyes truly began to see.
